PONDA: Mangueshi locals under the banner of People’s Power on Tuesday strongly opposed the residential complex project coming up, at Mangueshi.

The locals stated that the project is coming up on the bank of a nullah, which is located on a low lying area, and the project site is a bagayat land. If the project is realised then it would also lead to flooding in the area as in the rainy season flood water occupies the area.
“We had opposed the residential project by passing a resolution in the gram sabha in 2018. Further, the land cannot be put to other use or sold as it is the land of one famous temple, offered to the priest to grow and cultivate bagayat and earn livelihood,” the locals claimed.
The locals also feared that if the residential complex comes in the area then the flat owners will throw garbage and waste water into the nullah resulting in pollution, which is the main source of their agriculture.
Following complaint, Sarpanch Pandurang Gaude and panch inspected the site. Sarpanch Gaude said, “The Town and Country Planning had approved the file following which the panchayat had given permission. However, as the locals complained, the panchayat inspected the project site.
