PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has been admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim late Sunday evening due to low blood pressure and dehydration.
Parrikar, who has been suffering from “mild pancreatitis”, was earlier admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital.
According to sources, Parrikar was admitted to GMC for dehydration and low pressure.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed Herald that there was nothing to worry and it was just dehydration.
“He had some dehydration and is being treated in GMC and is responding well to the treatment,” he said adding that “I was present there to monitor his treatment”.
It may be recalled that on February 22, Parrikar surprised everyone when he arrived in Goa to present the State Budget despite having nominated MGP’s Sudin Dhavalikar to present the same.
However, sources say the move was against his doctors’ advice as they wanted him to take proper rest before resuming work.
On February 15, Parrikar was admitted to Lilavati Hospital after he complained of stomach ache.
Following the Chief Minister’s sickness, the 22-day budget session of Goa Legislative Assembly was curtailed to just four days.
The Speaker also announced that Dhavalikar would table the Budget in Parrikar’s absence.
Besides, the Chief Minister has been holding regular meetings at his Dona Paula residence and has been clearing routine files.
He had also informed the officials that he would join office from Monday onwards.
TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai said that the Chief Minister had informed him he would be chairing the next Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
