Mapusa cops nab five with cannabis worth Rs 10 lakh

PANJIM: The Mapusa Police have arrested five persons for allegedly possessing drugs worth Rs ten lakh.

The accused have been identified as Chandankumar Sharma, 22, Rohit Sharma, 21, Imitya Muslim Ansari, 21, all natives of Jharkahnd, Vijay Pradeep Volvoikar, 25, and Parshuram Shankarappa Lamani, 36, from Camurlim, Bardez.

According to police, the accused were arrested on December 12 during a raid conducted at parking lot of New KTC Bus Stand, Mapusa.

During the raid, the alleged accused were caught in the possession of 10.300 kg of ganja which accused Chandankumar Sharma, Rohit Sharma and Imitya Muslim Ansari had procured to deliver to their prospective customers through accused Vijay Pradeep Volvoikar and Parshuram Shankarappa Lamani.

A case has been registered and investigation is in progress with PSI Vishal Kuttikar under the supervision of PI Nikhil Palekar.
