MAPUSA: Mapusa People’s Union, a social forum from Mapusa, on Tuesday met the Mapusa Municipal Council Chairperson Shubhangi Vaingankar and discussed several issues pertaining to Mapusa town.
Delegation members headed by President Jawaharlal Shetye met the chairperson at her office and kept forward the need of reconstruction of public grievance cell for the benefit of general public and stakeholders from Mapusa.
Forum also discussed the issue of how non-Goan vendors have taken over the market and there is need to issue photo identity card to different categories of vendors conducting business activities in the Mapusa Municipal Market and in the jurisdiction of Mapusa Municipality.
Forum also asked chairperson to intervene in streamlining of municipal administration and to inculcate discipline among municipal employees. It also highlighted on plucking up revenue leakages with the help of honest and dedicated officials of Mapusa municipality and honest & trustworthy councilors.
Forum has also asked the chairperson to dispose of the cases of illegal construction which are pending before the court of the chief officer in a time bound manner and also to stop the operation of illegal mobile towers by conducting detailed inquiry of their installation involving corrupt municipal officials.
