MARGAO: The Additional Sessions Judge in Margao denied anticipatory bail to Ruben Vernekar, a local businessman accused of ordering the abduction of jeweller Kunal Raikar on Wednesday morning. As of late evening, Vernekar had not been arrested by the Margao police.

Sources said that Vernekar had appeared at the Margao police station early Friday morning,
accompanied by his lawyer, and was interrogated until 1 pm. The Margao police remain unaware of the identities or whereabouts of three other individuals alleged to have been involved in Kunal’s kidnap attempt. The police have not yet seized the vehicle used in the incident.
