MARGAO: Following the announcement by South Goa District Collector Asvin Chandru convening a meeting on January 3, regarding the unauthorised roadside vendors in Margao, the group of local residents who had planned to protest against such vendors has decided to postpone their agitation.
They have, however, urged politicians to cease supporting these illegal activities and emphasised their intention to await the outcome of the meeting convened by the Collector.

While addressing the media, Sharmad Raiturkar referred to the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum given to Margao Municipal Council (MMC) for clearing illegal vendors from roadsides, gutters, and drains.
Despite the deadline lapse, they have opted to defer the agitation, anticipating resolution through the upcoming joint meeting of the authorities.
“It is shocking to witness that illegal business activities have been increasing in the commercial town of Margao, and even more shocking is that neither the police nor MMC has any information about these vendors,” said Raiturkar.
