MARGAO, NOV 26
The Margao Taxi drivers and Operators Association operating from the Margao railway station on Friday demanded action against motorcycle pilots acting as tourist guides near the railway station.
A delegation of the taxi driver led by President Rajesh Shirodkar called on the Margao Police inspector Santosh Desai and called for action against the motorcycle pilots. Shirodkar pointed out that the motorcycle pilots park  their motorcycles outside the railway station at the parking place, but act as tourist guides.
The taxi drivers claimed that  though the Goa Tourism Development have its information centre office outside the main gate of the railway station, the motorcycle pilots directly interfere with the tourists inside the platform and allegedly misguide the tourists for their own business and preventing them from approaching the government Information Centre for their benefits. “This is the third time, we have come to the police station to lodge our complaint against the motorcycle pilots. We hope the police would initiate necessary action”, Shirodkar added.
PI Desai gave the taxi drivers a patient hearing and assured to act against the illegal activity after inspecting the railway station premises.
