Massive Pre-Dawn Fire Guts Scrapyards in Birla Area; Firefighters Prevent Spread to Industrial Units

A massive pre-dawn blaze swept through several scrapyards in the Birla area near Zuarinagar, Sancoale, early Tuesday morning, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and drastically reducing visibility in the vicinity. The fire was reported at around 4:47 am, prompting an urgent response from the Margao Fire Station, which dispatched reinforcement to assist the Vasco Fire Station teams already on site.

Firefighters from the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES), Goa, worked for hours to bring the flames under control, battling intense heat and highly combustible scrap material stored across the affected yards. Their prompt action helped prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring industrial establishments, averting a potentially larger disaster.
