VASCO: Material aid was sent to Chennai flood affected victims by the Real Group of companies and a non-governmental organisation ‘One World Goa’ by Vasco-Chennai Express which left Vasco railway station on Thursday afternoon.
Real Group of companies sent 330 boxes of potable water, while ‘One World Goa’ sent 10 boxes of clothes.
It is learnt that the Real Group requested the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) to coordinate with the Chennai Port Trust receive and distribute the aid sent by the company. Accordingly, the materials would be collected by Chennai Port officials and distribute the same to the victims.
This is the second big consignment sent to Chennai from Goa. Earlier, the
Indian Coast Guard, Goa unit, and MPT dispatched ready to use materials including pet water bottles, blankets, water purifier tablets, and ration materials to the rain-hit areas of Tamil Nadu. The consignment was dispatched by Indian Coast Guard Ship Samudra Prahari on December 4.
