PANJIM: Congress MLAs, Mauvin Godinho and Atanasio Babush Monserrate have not been served notices by the Goa Congress, as of now, even as the party flashed notices to four leaders including former Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha, ex-Minister Joaquim Alemao, former home minister and party’s North Goa Lok Sabha candidate Ravi Naik and Youth Congress President Valanka Alemao for their alleged anti party activities during the April 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The party had formed a disciplinary committee, formed by the high command to look into the alleged cases of dissidence before and during the election campaign.
Godinho had directly challenged the Congress party by refusing to work for its candidate in the South, publicly saying that he was staying out of the elections and fighting an open battle with the GPCC president. Godinho’s supporters campaigned for BJP candidate Narendra Savoikar.
While the Taleigao strongman and St Cruz MLA Babush was heard saying that he was staying out of these elections and had publicly admitted that he did not work for Congress’ official nominee.
Not surprisingly, Babush-supported panel swept the panchayat elections in Taleigao and the BJP Lok Sabha candidate got a lead in that segment.
Deshprabhu has no clue of notices
PANJIM: Even as the Congress has sent notices to three senior party members and one youth Congress member, the convenor of the party’s disciplinary committee and former MLA Jitendra Deshprabhu said that he was not even aware that the committee had met and decided to issue the notices.
“I have not been consulted nor invited for any meeting,” said Deshprabhu.
