VASCO: The People Against Atrocities and Injustices (PAAI) stated that it will convene a public meeting at Vasco to raise concern about the Vasco school rape victim.
Addressing a press conference, Auda Viegas of Bailancho Saad said since the victim has not got any justice till date, they will convene a public meeting near Mormugao Municipal Council, Vasco, on Thursday.
“Sexual assaults and atrocities against women have hit an all-time high since the beginning of 2013 and to address the issue PAAI has called the meeting starting from Vasco,” added Viegas.
Convenor Cyril A Fernandes said the State government and the school management have failed to counsel the parents.
“It is the need of the hour that parents are counselled as they do not know how to address their problems due to which the identity of the child is at risk,” added Fernandes.
“The new academic year of the school will start in the next few days and the culprit is still at large. Arrest of the culprit is a must as children are vulnerable for such attacks,” said Fernandes.
Fernandes said the meeting is non-political and PAAI has advised speakers not to make it a political platform and hurl allegations, but to speak on the subject matter.
