MARGAO: The Citizens of Goa, a group that is fighting for justice to Father Bismarque Dias, has said that it plans to organise a massive meeting at the historic Lohia Maidan in Margao, on December 12, at 4 pm, to pressurise the government to expedite the investigation into Fr Bismarque’s death and find the culprits responsible for the same.
Citizens of Goa plans to take the movement to all the talukas of Goa from Lohia Maidan.
“The COG, right from the beginning, had insisted that a Special Investigative Team be appointed and be supervised by the chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Goa or a retired judge as we suspect that the government has been controlling the police and the investigating agencies,” said Kennedy Afonso, a COG member.
Addressing a press conference, Prakash Bandodkar who is a part of the movement that is demanding justice for Fr Dias said, “It’s been a month we have been shouting for justice. It may also be observed that the Government of Goa has opened the regional plan soon after the death of Fr Bismarque as they worried that he wouldn’t have allowed the present ODP or the Regional Plan to go ahead,” Bandodkar said.
Kennedy Afonso has called upon the people and the sympathisers of the cause to come and join them at the meeting and strengthen the voice for demand of justice.
