The locals now want a special gram sabha to direct the panchayat not to issue NOC for the construction of compound wall.

Earlier, the MPGBA had submitted a letter on August 18, demanding to scrap tender for the compound wall.
However, Executive Engineer Sudeer Parab informed the gathered locals that already survey for the compound wall is done and tender is awarded to one Amol Navelkar and thereafter work order would be given.
Parab said, “Only the higher authorities can decide into the matter now.”
“I would hand over the letter to the higher officials,” he added. Savorderkar speaking to the media persons said that the locals of Melauli are strongly opposed to the IIT Project.
“Today we have submitted the letter to revoke the tender. We will never allow construction of compound wall around the IIT Project land. Earlier, we have submitted the letters to Guleli Panchayat on three occasions not to issue any NOC to any construction related to the IIT Project without a special gram sabha. Similarly, letters were also forwarded to the Deputy Collector,” he said.
“We demand a special gram sabha to oppose the project as well as the compound wall,” he added.
