MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council called an urgent meeting to discuss the “proposal for upgradation of Sonsoddo Waste Management” plan on Monday.
During the meeting, the MMC proposed and discussed for a provision of 15 tonnes bio methanisation plant at Sonsoddo site with 2,000 sq mts plot area for the same.

The chairperson said that after the visit of Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo recently it was seen that the existing plant at Sonsoddo garbage dump site is not sufficient to treat the waste, coming to the plant from various South Goa areas, and also lacks the capacity to treat the dry waste.
The MMC has already spent a lot of money at Sonsoddo but in vain and now at the fag end of the council term, all eyes are set on what the council proposes to do to resolve the never ending issue of Sonsoddo.
