VASCO: The residents of MES College residential area have raised strong objections to the unauthorised parking of heavy vehicles including trucks, container trailers, JCBs etc close to their residential area.
According to the residents, since last several months some heavy vehicle drivers have been using an open area near Greva Residency as parking for their heavy vehicles thereby not only causing public nuisance, but also posing security threat to the residents living in different colonies under Vidyanagar residential area in Zuarinagar Sancoale. The residents say that such parking is unauthorised.
“Since last several months the heavy vehicle drivers have been using the NH road setback area for parking their vehicles. Initially, we thought that the drivers were using the road setback area for parking only during night time and that too for temporary period, but recently we came to know that they have made the area a permanent parking venue for which we have our strong objections. We demand that the authorities concerned immediately act and make the area free from illegal parking of heavy vehicles,” said Edward Fernandes, President of Vidyanagar Residents Welfare Association (VRFA).
NHAI Project Director P S Doddamani also claimed that the heavy vehicle parking is prohibited.
“Yes, they have been illegally using NHAI setback area for parking their heavy vehicles. We have already taken a note of the same and soon we would issue notice to the owners asking them not to use our property for parking. Also, we have noticed some junked vehicles at the site and decision on the same will also be taken shortly,” he said.
