MARGAO: Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco and Mathew Diniz were discharged from the 2009 casino extortion case by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Kalpana Gawas on Monday.
Mickky and Mathew have been attending court proceedings since 2009 and have been accused of assault and extortion, among other things. Meanwhile, it was heard that the order would be challenged in the High Court.
Addressing the press, Mickky stated, “I am happy with the order. I don’t consider it a relief as it was, from the beginning, a plot against me without any substance whatsoever. It was a waste of my time attending (court proceedings).”
Mickky’s advocate Srikant Naik stated, “The case has no substance as some of the ‘victims’ themselves had refuted any wrongdoing by Mickky. It was basically a plot to tarnish his name.”
