MARGAO: Margao Municipal Chairperson Gonzaco Rebello on Wednesday appeared before MMC Chief Officer in connection with a petition filed by a resident of Madel for the demolition of structures and for his disqualification under the Municipalities Act.
In his petition, Savio Dias, maintained that Rebello has built two structures in a parking and road widening area at Mungul. He also placed on record photographs as evidence of the same.
While appealing to the Chief Officer to immediately raze down both the structures, Dias has made a strong plea to get Rebello disqualified for allegedly carrying out the illegalities as a ward councillor of the civic body.
While Rebello had in the past firmly denied the allegations as false and baseless, he is now expected to officially file his reply to the petition filed by Dias at the next date of hearing scheduled in August.
