MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council (MMC) commissioned another baling machine, which has been installed at the old fish market behind the municipal building in Margao. Hence, MMC now has four baling machines in operations. While two of them are at Sonsoddo, another old machine after having being repaired, has been placed at the old fish market next to the new machine.
The new machine purchased Rs. 5 lakhs will bale about 4 tonnes of dry waste everyday as it will be preparing 8 to 10 bales per day with each bale weighing around 400 to 500 kgs.
While disclosing that they have ordered six more baling machines, MMC Chairperson Pooja Naik said that garbage management has been sought to be decentralized from Sonsoddo and that they have already identified other sites to place the baling machines.
A shed at the Margao Industrial Estate, will also be used to treat dry waste, she disclosed further.
