VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council initiated footpath, road encroachment clearing drive in its jurisdiction. Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes and Chairperson Kritesh Gaunkar said there were complaints regarding encroachments, therefore we are conducting the drive.
On Monday morning, team of MMC market inspector and others went to various spots in the market and around Vasco. During the drive, the commodities kept on the footpath, internal roads were confiscated and taken away by the MMC workers. Gaunkar said that since he took over as chairperson, I have received several complaints of footpath and road encroachments by shop keepers and vendors. Therefore, we took action against such illegality.
CO Agnelo said that because of continuous complaints in town we had to initiate this anti-encroachment drive.
