MMC Introduces Pay Parking in Vasco as Pilot Project to Ease Congestion

The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) on the occasion of Makar Sankranti launched a pay parking system along all sides of the MMC building in Vasco, marking the first such initiative in the city.

The launch was carried out in the presence of MMC Chairperson Girish Borker and City ward Councillor Shami Salkar. Speaking at the event, Borker said that the pay parking facility is being introduced as a pilot project in Vasco city to assess its effectiveness in managing traffic and parking issues.

He added that the initiative aims to regulate the increasing number of vehicles and ensure better utilisation of limited parking space in the city.

City ward Councillor Shami Salkar said the move was planned to bring much-needed parking discipline in the congested areas of Vasco, where haphazard parking has become a persistent problem.

If successful, the MMC may consider expanding the pay parking system to other parts of the city to further streamline traffic movement and improve civic management.
