With the election process for the Municipal polls finally commencing from Monday, the task of signing the much-awaited Concession agreement between the Margao Municipal Council and Fomento will now be left to the new set of City Fathers who would be elected in the October 31 polls.
However, the code of conduct will not come in the way of the Margao Civic body having a pre-bid meet on Monday with the consultants to monitor the construction of the waste treatment plant and the land fill site at the Sonsodo dumping site.
Sources in the Civic body informed that the Council will hold the long-delayed pre-bid meet with the consultants following the go-ahead signal from the high-powered committee headed by CMDigambar Kamat.
However, while the process of short-listing the consultants would continue as an administrative process, the concession agreement will now have to be inked by the new set of Councillors after the October 31 polls.
For, though the Municipal Advocate might return the draft concession agreement to the Civic body after vetting in the next few days, the code of conduct will prevent the present lot of Councilors to ratify the agreement before the same is signed with Fomento.
Sources in the Civic body informed that much time was lost in the signing of the Concession agreement, first with Fomento taking time to go into the legal aspects and now the Municipal lawyer still studying the draft.
The Concession agreement will form the basis for 25-yearrelationship between Fomento and Margao Municipal Council.
