In a written representation to Chief Officer of Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC), NCP general secretary Sanjay Barde highlighted the issue of sewage release into municipal nullahs.

The representation further states that many households in Mapusa have been releasing sewage into municipal nullahs. These households have already been served notices by the Health Department.

The NCP claimed that the government has provided free toilets to few households. However, these toilets are connected to nullahs, have now led to pollution of Tar River, causing health concerns.

Accusing the councillors of giving more importance to municipal market, Barde alleged that they have completely neglected the development of their respective wards. Barde demanded that Chief Officer hold a gram sabha to raise people’s concerns. He claimed that WRD is undertaking development works in Mapusa; however, the councillors are taking advantage of the same and failed to maintain the roads due to which the motorists are suffering.
