The Moira village panchayat comprises of seven wards — Navo Portugal, Poroacao, Bambordim, Salapore, Attapondem, Calizor and Pirazona.
In the 2012 elections Santosh Ramdas Chari, Sonia Lavu Thakur, Suryakant Shantaram Bhatlekar, Poonam Manohar Volvoikar, Sadanand Raul, Rangnath Belekar and Oswald Cordeiro were elected as panchas.
Santosh Ramdas Thakur was elected as Sarpanch and Sonia Lavu Thakur as his deputy and both managed to complete their full term.
The panchayat’s financial status according to the audit report is satisfactory as it generates revenue from taxes and fees and via rent from the Sub-Health Centre, Electricity Department and three shopkeepers.
The collection of house tax for the last financial year has been Rs 3.5 lakh and the outstanding dues are Rs 5.74 lakh in last five years. The collection of professional tax has been Rs 18,175; besides this, the panchayat receives Rs 32,376 from electricity department and Rs 36,825 from the Sub-Health Centre as annual rent and Rs 25,000 from three shops located in the premises. The power department is due to pay the panchayat Rs 1.42 lakh.
The panchayat has its door-to-door wet and dry garbage collection in place. It has employed a driver and labourer for the same on alternate days in each ward. The collected garbage is later disposed at Saligao treatment plant.
The panchayat received Rs 1.46 lakh under GIA scheme, Rs 2.71 lakh rupees under 14th finance, Rs 1 lakh under garbage scheme and Rs 2.75 lakh under MGNRIGA which has been utilised for repair and construction of roads and gutters in the village.
