VASCO: More than a hundred people were fined by the Vasco police since Friday morning for roaming with their vehicles in the town in violation of the lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The grocery shops were also asked to close by the Chairperson and a councilor from Baina area after they saw the hoards of people rushing towards shops to purchase grocery items without maintaining social distancing.
People, whether they came to purchases essential commodities or for a casual round, were questioned by the police for the reason for venturing out.
Those who falied to give satisfactory answers for their venturing out were fined by the police.
Meanwhile, migrant fish vending women were seen in groups selling fish at sky high prices to the customers without maintaining social distance. The people who were in search of food items, fish etc crowded at several places to buy fish.
Later, Chairperson Nandadeep Raut and Councillor Deepak Naik said that in the morning he inspected shops in Baina area after learning that many locals, especially migrants, were crowding at the grocery shops to buy essential items.
“We are in the process of putting home delivery system in place and have been telling people to maintain social distancing, sanitise hands, wear mask, stay at home, etc but people are not seriously abiding by these things. Later, I asked all the shops which were open to close down,” Deepak Naik said.
