PONDA: A moving WagonR car suddenly caught fire near Sanika Jim in Ponda on Saturday at around 9.30 am.
The Ponda fire personnel rushed with a fire tender to the spot and doused the fire. However, before the fire personnel could reach the spot a major portion of the car went up in smoke.
The fire personnel said that a short circuit could have caused the fire.
Before the fire personnel could reach, the car owner Sandesh Priolkar and some locals tried to douse the fire. However, it could be put out only after a fire tender was employed for over 40 minutes.
The loss is estimated at around Rs 3 lakh.
