VASCO: The Mormugao PDA held its first meeting under the new Chairmanship of MLA Carlos Almeida. PDA has decided to have an open ground and a joggers track on the land earlier earmarked for swimming pool. The decision to clear files of single dwelling units within 48 hours was also taken up at the meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Almeida said that the PDA has decided to develop the land earlier earmarked for swimming pool as joggers track and open ground. Giving the reason for the change of plan, Almeida said that it has been observed that the swimming pools built in low lying areas all over Goa have overtime developed cracks.
“The swimming pools at Peddem, Margao or other places have developed cracks and it has been discussed at government level too. We have had a discussion regarding the same with Sports Authority of Goa and have decided to have a joggers track and open ground on the land near the Railway Hall,” he said.
He said that the decision would be conveyed to the Sports Authority of Goa. “We spoke to the schools in Vasco and all expressed a need for open ground. The town already lacks open space for public and it is our endeavour to make them useful for the people of the town — may it be for jogging or for playing,” he said.
The MPDA Chairman also informed that the decision to clear files of single dwelling houses within 48 hours has also been taken at the meeting.
