MARGAO: Additional Sessions Judge Edgar Fernandes on Tuesday convicted a person of attempt to murder and sentenced him to 15 days simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for charges under section 506 (ii) and 326 of the Indian Penal Code.
On June 9, 2012, the accused Anand Mule stabbed his neighbour Shambu Adpaikar besides threatening him and his wife with dire consequences. The judge found him guilty of the charges and sentenced him to 15 days imprisonment.
However, as he has already spent that time in jail since the day of the crime and before he was released on bail on June 25, 2012, he will not have to spend any time in prison. Incidentally, the accused suffered a paralytic stroke on June 23, 2018 and cannot walk or talk at the moment.
