MARGAO: The bail application of Navy man Anurag Singh Rajawat arrested for alleged murder of his wife and mother-in-law, was rejected by the South Goa District and Sessions Court, Margao on Thursday.
Vasco police had strongly opposed the bail application stating that they have not completed the investigation for which the accused was required to be in custody.
Public Prosecutor V G Costa also argued that the accused was not cooperating with the police in the investigation. Adv N Dubey represented the accused.
Shivani Rajawat, 26 and her mother Jaidevi Chauhan, 50, had died in LPG gas vapour cloud explosion in a rented apartment at Vasco on November 18, 2023.
Police arrested Anurag after Shivani’s brother filed a complaint accusing his brother-in-law of murder.
Anurag Singh Rajawat was finally arrested 12 days after he was charged with killing his wife in a dowry death case. He was also charged for murder of his mother-in-law. Anurag’s mother is also accused in the dowry death case.
On December 6, Shubham Singh Chauhan, brother of victim Shivani Rajawat, had filed a complaint with the police and SDM accusing Anurag Rajawat of not only dowry harassment, but also planning the murder.
Shubham Singh Chauhan’s intervention application was allowed by the court after hearing arguments by Adv Amey Prabhudessai, who appeared for him.
