PANJIM: A disqualification petition has been filed against Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar with the Chief Electoral Officer by a Nationalist Congress Party worker for submitting false affidavit before the Election Commission ahead of the 2012 Assembly election.
The NCP worker from Mandrem Sadanand Vaingankar in his disqualification petition has alleged that Parsekar has illegally grabbed government area admeasuring 2297 sq mtrs at Arambol and the same has been highlighted in the election affidavit filed before the returning officer for election.
As per the information procured under Right to Information (RTI) Act, the ownership right of the survey number 53/0 at Arambol and area of 2297 sq mtrs is with ‘Sarkar’ (government), while Parsekar in his affidavit claimed it as the property inherited to him, the petitioner said.
The petitioner has attached the government documents procured under RTI, wherein the Mamlatdar of Pernem has said that government has been recorded as the owner of the land.
The petitioner has demanded a thorough investigation in the matter as it is against the Constitution of India. “The ownership right of Parsekar over the property is false and as such it is an act of filing false affidavit and false disclosure of information in the affidavit. This is a valid ground for disqualification of his candidature from the Legislative Assembly,” Vaingankar said.
Later in the evening, addressing a press conference, NCP chief spokesman Trajano D’Mello demanded that the Minister be sacked from the Cabinet till the time he is proven innocent. “If this government is for zero tolerance to corruption, then the Minister should be sacked,” he said.
D’Mello alleged that ‘land grabbing is a culture of BJP government’, recalling to the case filed pending in the High Court against Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar for illegal encroachment of Comunidade land.
