MARGAO: Condemning the “dictatorial” attitude of self-proclaimed president Vinod Shirodkar, the New Market Association vendors on Saturday said they will object and not entertain any decisions taken by him without taking the shopkeepers into confidence.
“Shirodkar self-proclaimed president has not even convened an annual general body meeting for the last several years, as required under Bye-Laws of the Association,” alleged the vendors.
The vendors further alleged that Shirodkar takes major decisions pertaining to the new market as per his whims and fancies, without taking the shopkeepers into confidence, which causes inconvenience to the valuable customers.
“The new market belongs to Margao Municipal Council but Shirodkar without any authority is keeping keys of the entrance of nine gates of the market with him instead of keeping with the security guards thereby allowing illegal work of extension/repairs etc, inside the market during night time without any permission,” pointed out the vendors.
The vendors said that they have lodged complaints against him but are not entertained by the officials of Margao Municipality.
“Now, almost all the shopkeepers have decided to strongly object to Shirodkar’s dictatorial attitude and not to entertain any decisions taken by him without taking the shopkeepers of the new market into confidence in the interest of the valuable customers,” the vendors said.
