PANJIM: All four newly-elected members of the Goa Legislative Assembly will be sworn in on Tuesday.
The oath taking ceremony of Subhash Shirodkar (Shiroda-BJP), Dayanand Sopte (Mandrem-BJP), Joshua DSouza (Mapusa- BJP) and Atanasio Monserrate (Panjim-Congress) will be held at 11 am at the PAC hall of the State Legislative Assembly complex. Acting Speaker Michael Lobo will administer the oath to all the MLAs.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will be present for the swearing-in ceremony.
In the 40-member State Assembly, BJP is the single largest party with 17 MLAs, followed by Congress with 14. Goa Forward Party and Independents are with three each, while MGP and NCP have one member each in the House.
The monsoon session of the State Assembly is likely to take place in July.
During the recently held by-elections, BJP emerged victorious in Mandrem, Shiroda and Mapusa, while it lost Panjim to Congress’ Atanasio Monserrate.
