PANJIM: The violation human rights of the police personnel posted on duty for the ongoing Assembly session has once again become a matter of debate. NGO Savera has questioned as to why police personnel, particularly women staff, have not been provided basic amenities like mobile toilets at their place of duty.
“The police personnel have been protecting the ministers and MLAs but why is it that the government is neglecting needs of the police staff. There are no mobile toilets for them. They have to walk a distance till the bus stand to answer nature’s call,” NGO Savera Tara Kerkar said.
Hundreds of policemen from different police stations and units are deployed for Assembly duty at the Legislative Assembly Complex and across the old Mandovi Bridge.
What’s worse is that the food provided to these policemen is not hygienically tested as one of these food packets had a cockroach in it. The human rights issue of these policemen posted at every Assembly session and their pitiable working condition during the BRICS summit is being debated till date.
