Nigerian gets 7 years rap for rape

A Fast Track Court here has convicted and sentenced a Nigerian national to seven years imprisonment for raping an Australian woman at Canacona in April this year.
The Fast Track Court presided by Judge Vijaya Pol has further directed the accused Obi Okoroafor to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 or in default to undergo three month imprisonment.
In this case, the accused had raped the 28-year-old Australian woman at Palolem after he befriended her at a dance party on April 17 this year.
Public Prosecutor Asha Arsekar represented the State and prayed to the court to give maximum sentence to the accused, drawing attention of the court to the criminal case filed against him for non possession of passport documents.
The accused was recently in the news for inflicting self injuries during his custody in the Sada Jail.
