Over the weekend, nine tourists were rescued from Goa’s beaches after being caught in dangerous rip currents. Four men from Karnataka were saved at Calangute in two separate incidents by vigilant lifeguards using rescue tubes and boards. At Agonda, three tourists from Kolkata were rescued with the help of a surfboard, while at Sinquerim, two Russian women were brought to safety by a lifeguard. Three other tourists managed to swim back to shore on their own. The timely intervention of lifeguards prevented potential tragedies along Goa’s popular beaches.
