Parsekar was speaking as the chief guest at the golden jubilee function of Cuncolim Educational Societies (CES) at Cuncolim on Friday.
Highlighting the importance of education, Parsekar stated that religious institutions should provide land and other facilities to educational institutions so that “skilled hands” can be produced.
He further stated that Goa had lost three five-year plans as it was liberated 14 years after India attained independence. However, Goa was still able to overtake the rest of India in the field of education thanks to the “visionary” Chief Minister Bhausaheb Bandodkar, who took education to every doorstep.
“At one time, Goa used to import engineers, teachers and experts from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Kerala. But today, we have graduates and post-graduates in every house in the State,” said Parsekar, adding that Cuncolkars, who are brave-hearted and patriotic people, have done wonders in the field of education.
Meanwhile, Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik lauded CES stockholders for their contribution to education. He added that the NIT project will provide opportunities for students to excel.
