MAPUSA: A breakthrough has eluded the Mapusa police as over two days have passed since a male body was fished out of the rivulet at Moira.
According to Mapusa Police, parents of a family residing at Ucassaim had visited Mapusa Police Station to find out whether the body is of their 24-year-old son, who was reported missing for the last four days. “When they saw the photographs of the deceased, the parents could not identify it, as the face was disfigured,” informed the police.
Police further informed that the missing youth was teaching at a school in Pernem and was residing at Moira. Since he has neither reported to school nor he is at Moira, the parents had visited Mapusa Police station to find out whether the body is of their son.
Police said the post-mortem report indicates that death of the deceased male was due to strangulation.
It may be recalled that a man was found strangulated to death on Saturday, when a large gunny bag containing the partially decomposed body was found floating in the Moira river. Two youth had gone to collect shellfish when they noticed the gunny bag floating in the river.
