PANJIM : BJP National President Amit Shah on Sunday failed to give any concrete assurance to revive the crisis-hit iron ore mining industry in Goa while stating to work out a solution through “court”.
“Due to a court case, the mining industry is hit with a problem. I don’t want to say anything in detail but in some time we will work out solution to the problem through ‘court’,” Shah said, while addressing nearly 15,000 booth workers at a convention held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium.
The people dependent on the mining industry were anxiously waiting for Shah to announce an immediate solution to resume iron ore mining activities in the State. Congress party, too, had posed question to Shah as to why there has been delay to ensure commencement of sustainable mining in the State.
BJP president statement hinted at possible filing of review petition in the Supreme Court challenging quashing of second renewals granted to 88 mining leases. The State government has already geared up to file the review petition seeking amendment to its order dated February 7 to ensue resumption of mining operations, which is ceased since March 16.
Shah said that BJP leadership has always considered Goa as a “bindiya” on the forehead of Bharat Mata. “Goa is a small state but can be a model state in the country,” he commented.
“Goa can be an ideal state under leadership of Manohar Parrikar and that Narendra Modi-led government has been giving unstinted support to Goa for the same,” Shah added.
He reiterated that Centre has so far sanctioned Rs 16,000 crore developmental works for Goa including construction of Zuari bridge (Rs 1,400 cr), third Mandovi bridge (Rs 450cr), expansion of Dabolim airport (Rs 400 crore), Smart city fund (Rs 100 cr) and other projects.

BJP to form govt in K’taka: Shah
PANJIM: BJP National President Amit Shah said that the party would form the next government in Karnataka after May 15 results.
Shah said that he had spoken to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar over phone in the USA during which the latter asked him about the Karnataka elections.
“When I called him just after initial ‘namaskar’ he asked me about Karnataka election. Despite being in the USA for treatment, Parrikar is concerned about the party, which is a symbol of true worker,” Shah said. “I told him, Parrikarji you take care of your health, BJP will have full majority in Karnataka and we will form the government in the evening of May 15,” the party president said.
