MARGAO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subhash Shirodkar on Sunday downplayed the simmering discontentment in the party by saying there’s no dissensions over the party decision to replace some of the block presidents in South.
“There are absolutely no dissensions in the party. Let me remind that Congress party is not static. It moves with the times. And, I would like to further remind my Congress workers that block president is not the only post available for them to prove their mettle. The Congress party is a big organisation. There are so many Cells and openings available for our workers to serve the party and the people”, Shirodkar said.
When his attention was drawn to the unceremonious removal of Benaulim block Congress President Edwin Barretto to pave way for Churchill Alemao’s close aide David Fernandes, Shirodkar said he has already spoken to Edwin and will have a meeting with him this week.
As far as Cuncolim is concerned, he has appointed Assis Noronha as the block president to fill up the vacancy caused by the resignation of the then president. “We have not removed the president in Cuncolim. The party has only filled up the vacant post”, Shirodkar said.
