No rally, morcha at eleventh hour!
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, JULY 16
Attention. Planning to take out a rally or morcha in South Goa, than better intimate the district Magistrate or the police at least six days in advance.
For, there is every likelihood that the Magistrate may refuse permission to hold the rally or morcha if the application is made on the day of the agitation.
This decision has been taken at the recent law and order meeting held earlier last week wherein it was decided that concerned parties should intimate the district Magistrate, Sub-divisional Magistrate or the police six days in advance before organizing a strike, rally or a morcha.
The decision has already come into effect in South Goa with the district Magistrate politely declining permission for a Front to hold a rally in the city.
In another decision, the district Magistrate has called for fortnightly reports from the sub-divisional magistrates on the law and order situations in their respective divisions and on other important matters such as communal problem, CRZ issues, religious activities and any unlawful activities.
The district Magistrate informed the officials that any law and order problem can be avoided if the authorities act swiftly and quickly. In this connection, the Magistrate laid stress on intelligence inputs to be gathered and communicated to his office by the police and other authorities like the sub divisional magistrates and the labour commissioner.
