CORTALIM: Commenting on recent developments in the Sancoale village panchayat, BJP Cortalim
Block President Tulshidas D Naik has denied any interference in the ouster of Narayan Naik or election
of the Ramakant Borkar as the sarpanch of Sancoale.
“How can the party interfere in the functioning of the panchayats which are totally independent and
whom the party does not have any control,” asked Naik and added that there are only three panchas
affiliated to the BJP party.
“No doubt, we had managed to form a majority in the panchayat by drafting in the support of other
panchas, but that is not enough. One has to perform to stay in the seat,” said Naik, thereby hinting that
Naik’s performance was not good enough.
It may be recalled that the ouster of Narayan G Naik came in for heavy criticism from Cortalim MLA and
Environment and Forest Minister Alina Saldanha, who also expressed fear that Borkar would spell doom
to the village of Sancoale.
