Now, parents of 15-yr-olds in priority group

PANJIM: Following poor response to the current COVID19 vaccination drive, the State government has yet again changed the criteria for vaccinating parents in the age group of 18-45 years. 

Parents of children upto 15 years age have been included in the priority group, who would be inoculated with Covishield from Monday onwards.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in a tweet announced that the government is opening up free vaccination for parents in 18-45 age group with a child of age 15 yrs or below, from Monday. 

“People are requested to take a note of this and get yourself vaccinated at the nearest Govt center,” he tweeted further.

Two days ago, the government had announced that priority group for vaccination had been increased to parents of children up to 10 years.

Earlier this week, the priority group included parents with children upto five years as against the earlier norm of children below two years.

The vaccination of priority groups includes persons with disability, seafarers, taxi operators, motorcycle pilots and rickshaw drivers as well as those with comorbidities in the 18-44 years category since June 3.  

As per the government records, till June 6 evening around 6,000 beneficiaries from the priority group were administered the first dose of vaccine.
