The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has sought an official inquiry into alleged irregularities during the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination held at the Government College examination centre in Pernem, Goa.
According to the student body, several candidates complained that the examination in one of the halls was stopped before the scheduled conclusion time. Students alleged that invigilators collected answer sheets at around 5 pm, nearly 15 minutes before the official end time of 5.15 pm, resulting in the loss of valuable writing time during the highly competitive medical entrance examination.

Raising concerns over the alleged lapse, NSUI leaders, accompanied by representatives of the Youth Congress, met the North Goa Collector and submitted a memorandum demanding a detailed investigation into the matter.
The student organisation argued that even a few minutes can make a significant difference in a national-level examination such as NEET-UG, where thousands of candidates compete for limited medical seats across the country. It maintained that any procedural deviation could potentially affect the performance and prospects of students who appeared for the re-test.
In its memorandum, NSUI urged the authorities to conduct a fair and transparent inquiry to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident. The organisation also called for appropriate action against those found responsible if any violation of examination procedures is established.
The alleged irregularity has sparked concern among students and parents, with many seeking clarity on whether the examination was conducted according to prescribed guidelines. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the allegations.
