Super speciality health care and medical tourism will receive a big boost in the state with Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat inaugurating the state-of-the-art Rs 60 crore 180 bedded NUSI Wockhardt hospital at Panzorconne-Cuncolim on Wednesday.
Welcoming Wockhardt Hospitals to the State, Kamat said that citizens of Goa will now benefit from the world class professional healthcare that Wockhardt Hospitals will bring to the State.
“Quality health is one of the most needed services for the people and I am sure that with the coming of a leading healthcare group like Wockhardt Hospitals to Goa, this will be met”, he said, and hoped the health care facility will meet the requirements of the common man.
In his address, PWD Minister, Churchill Alemao lauded the contribution of NUSI-Wockhardt in the health care sector and exuded confidence that the hospital will meet the requirements of all sections of the population.
Chairman of Wockhardt Group, Dr Habil Khorakiwala said the Goa hospital is a major milestone in their quest for providing quality healthcare to all.
“Our achievements in the past 20 years signify our commitment to pursuing and matching global standards in healthcare to create an environment where continuous improvements creates new benchmarks in the quality of care delivered to our patients”, he said.
Dr Khorakiwala said that specialists from Goa and outside will take care of patients in cardiology, including consultants from Mumbai, Singapore, UK, Chandigarh and other places.
“These specialists have years of experience and have performed hundreds of open heart surgeries”, he added.
Saying though the facilities are indeed world class, Dr Khorakiwala, however, said the prices are affordable by the common man. “The hospital will work 24×7 in respect of emergencies. There’s an ambulance and pharmacy which will be open round-the-clock”, he added.
Replying to a question, he said that NUSI and Wockhardt have agreed to have a long-term partnership to provide world class health care facility.
Ms Zahabiya Khorakiwala said the NUSI Wockhardt Hospital is a multi-speciality tertiary care hospital equipped with advanced hi-tech equipments and technology, having highly qualified expert consultants team. She said the 180-bedded hospital, of which 43 are critical care beds, has five operation theatres meeting international standards, dedicated ICU ambulance, 24×7 emergency line, dedicated dialysis and physiotherapy centres and round the clock pathology services.
In his address, Chairman of NUSI/ITF Trust Capt N A Hiranandani said that NUSI has always been at the forefront when it comes to providing a better life for the people.
“Health definitely comes at the top of that list. I am confident that our collaboration will prove to be a blessing for the people of Goa”, he added.
He said the hospital will continue will bestow benefits on the seamen and their families.
