MARGAO: Additional District and Sessions Judge, South Goa, Vijaya D Pol on Tuesday convicted Ahmed Sheik, 23, resident of Katem, Baina, in a case of murder. The matter is posted for arguments on the point of sentence on May 29.
The incident occurred on July 6, 2010, at 3.30 pm, near old Marina bar, close to Baina beach. Sheik had assaulted Mehboob Kantgi, 30, over previous enmity. He used a metallic handle of a bore-well pump to assault Mehboob on his head due to which the latter died on the spot. The accused was arrested on July 7, 2010. He has been convicted under section 304 of IPC.
