One convicted for patricide

MARGAO: The South Goa Sessions Court has convicted accused Suresh Chavan, 41 years a resident of New Vadem, Vasco for the death of his father.The accused has been held guilty for the offense of culpable homicide. The matter has been now posted for sentence.

MARGAO:  The South Goa Sessions Court has convicted accused Suresh Chavan, 41 years a resident of New Vadem, Vasco for the death of his father.The accused has been held guilty for the offense of culpable homicide. The matter has been now  posted for sentence.
It may be recalled that the accused Suresh on 5 August 2011  at around 1.30 pm  in a flat at Alto Dabolim, belonging to younger son of the deceased assaulted his father Bhimsingh Chavan with knife causing stab injuries to his chest. Matter finally argued by public prosecutor Bhanudas Gaonkar while public prosecutor Subhash  Desai examined 16 witnesses . The complaint was lodged by Santosh Chavan younger son of the deceased . There were eye witnesses namely Rahul Rao and his wife had eye witnessed the incident being neighbours of deceased.  On point of sentence arguments were advanced by public prosecutor Ladislau Fernandes who insisted for stringent punishment for the accused while advocate for accused prayed that lenience be shown to the  accused.
PI Braz T Menezes  investigated the case. The accuse in custody since August 5, 2011 .
