MARGAO: In a major accident at Rawanfond, one person, seaman by profession, died on the spot while other three family members sustained minor injuries, on Tuesday. The accident occurred at around 8.30 am in front of the third gate of MES Military Camp. The locals helped to rescue the injured persons.
As informed by Sachin Narvekar, Police Inspector Margao Town Police Station, the deceased Vernon Fernandes (49), is a resident of Seraulim. Vernon’s son Denvor (10), wife Adv Venia and brother Venancio (55) sustained minor injuries when their car overturned before hitting the parked vehicles by the roadside.

Vernon, along with family, was proceeding by a car from Quepem to Margao. However, he lost control and as a result, the car hit one taxi rickshaw and three scooters parked by the roadside, besides damaging one tea stall, one sweet mart shop, and one electricity pole before it overturned. Vernon died on the spot while others sustained minor injuries. They were discharged from the Hospicio Hospital after medical treatment.
