rnThe District and Session Court today sentenced 44-year old Raju Shirke for life imprisonment for committing murder of his brother-in-law in 2008.
rnThe accused is also slept fine of Rs 10,000. Public Prosecutor Subhash Dessai examined in all 19 witnesses in support of its case.
rnThe accused, originally from Ajra Maharashtra was staying in the house of the deceased Sanjay Pawar at Bicholim for last 15 years and was carrying on his business of stitching clothes.
rnThe victim had asked accused to leave the house and go to his native place at several times.
rn“On the said day after having dinner deceased went to wash his hands while accused was consuming liquor. There was exchange of words between them and a shout of victim was heard,” the complaint reads.
rn“Deceased told to his sister Milan Shirke that her husband stabbed him with knife,” it adds.
rnThe post-mortem report had confirmed that the death was caused by sharp, pointed cutting weapon like knife.
