PANJIM: Goa Cyber Crime Cell unearthed a major fraud in interest free education loan and arrested one person in this connection.
The Goa Police in coordination with their Maharashtra counterparts arrested the accused one Ali alias Muhammad Mumtaz, a resident of Bhandup-Mumbai.
Police said a complaint of online fraud was committed by a person on the pretext of giving interest free loan of Rs 20 lakh.
“The fraudster then on the pretext of various service charges, processing fee and tax deductions induced the victim to transfer Rs 11.36 lakh,” the police said.
The cyber cell cops said a similar case was also registered in Maharashtra. Further investigation is on.
