PERNEM: An unknown person was crushed to death under the wheels of a container truck in an accident reported at Oshelbagh, Dhargal.
According to sources, the accident occurred at 8 pm when the middle-aged person was travelling on his scooter from Pernem to Dhargal while the container truck was proceeding from Mapusa to Patradevi.
On reaching Oshelbagh, the driver of the container truck lost control and rammed into the scooter.
The impact was such that the rider got crushed under the wheels of truck resulting in his instant death. The driver fled after the accident.
Pernem Fire Station team used a crane to remove the body which was sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for autopsy.
Negligence of the contractor has once again come to the fore as the locals have expressed their displeasure over the accident. Pernem Police are investigating the case.
