CALANGUTE: The Goa Police’s Cyber Cell dismantled an online prostitution ring with advanced features including a dedicated call centre, a user-friendly website, and advance payment mechanism.
The Andhra-based proprietor Sayyed Usman and his partner Mohammed Mujibullah were arrested, while their BPO team, including techies and call centre staff, went into hiding.
The call centre operated from rental rooms owned by a police constable’s wife at Tivai Vaddo, Calangute.
The racket came to light after a dissatisfied customer complained to the Cyber Cell.
Despite taking down the original website, a similar site, www.vipescortingoa.com, emerged, offering services from ‘supermodels, Russians, and TV actors’. Many of the victims were minors from Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, and West Bengal, and the site also featured Russian call girls and gigolos.
